Stipends

PETS is committed to supporting the full participation of a diverse range of students, scholars, and professionals in the PETS community and its annual symposium, and recognizes that financial and logistical constraints can be a barrier for many. To help make PETS more accessible, each year we use money raised through sponsorships to help offset costs for attendees who need support in order to join the PETS symposium, whether in person or, if applicable, online.

If you want to attend PETS online / virtually, do not have institutional support, and are unable to pay the full virtual registration rate on your own, you can use the code STIPEND2022 to receive a discounted rate of 30 AUD.

If you are interested in attending PETS in person and cannot access sufficient resources from your organization to attend, we encourage you to apply for stipend support using the application process described below. Yes! We appreciate the irony of a privacy-focused organization asking for some very personal information. The reality is that the sponsorship funding we use to provide stipends comes with restrictions and requirements about how it can be used. So while providing any of the information listed below in your stipend application is completely optional, we will be able to more equitably distribute the funding we have to everyone the more information you provide.

If you plan to attend virtually and you need support other than registration (for example, for child or elder care outside your normal care arrangements) you can also apply using the process below.

To apply for stipend support, please send an email to pets2022-stipend@petsymposium.org, with a subject line of "PETS-2022 stipend application", indicating the following:

We will begin reviewing stipend applications on May 5, 2022, and will send out decisions on a rolling basis thereafter. If you are submitting an application for in-person attendance support after this date, please indicate whether you have already applied for a visa and / or are awaiting a stipend decision to begin this process.
